Radio Station

The Prison Radio Station was formed before Kolbe undertook the responsibility of the management of the Prison.  The Station was located inside the Chapel, and its primary role was to facilitate communications between the then superintendent of Prison, and the Prison population.  The conditions at that time made it unsafe and impractical to otherwise communicate effectively.  Once Kolbe became responsible for the management of the Prison, it tasked inmate Santiago Baeza to oversee the operations of the Station.

One of the first things Santiago did was to set a daily schedule, which consisted of morning devotions, worship songs, inspirational and motivational talks and announcements.  This seemingly insignificant change was actually a David vs. Goliath success story.  Through prayers and the new changes made by Kolbe, the tense and negative atmosphere was replaced by a message of Love and Unity.

Jeremiah 33.3 ‘Call unto me and I will answer thee and show thee great and mighty things which thou knowest not’.

The Radio Station changed it’s name to Jeremiah 33.3, and it has been relocated inside the Rotary Learning Center.  It is operated by a team of four (inmates) under the guidance of the Head of the IFFB (Inner-Change for Freedom Belize) program.  It operates daily from 5:30 in the morning to 10pm.

The work of Jeremiah 33.3 is to motivate, inspire, and to channel the Love of God through the Prison air waves.  Worships songs are broadcasted throughout the day, including Latin worship songs, Reggae and Contemporary hits, including hip-hop worship tunes.  Programs such as the award winning radio program “Unshackled” from Pacific Garden Mission, the radio ministries of “Joyce Meyers” and “Rick Warren” are broadcasted daily, including CNN headline news at noon, and re-broadcasts of the local news (LOVE FM) at 12:30pm and 6pm daily.

Periodically, Jeremiah 33.3 would conduct talk shows and broadcast football games, or special events such as the annual Family Day, or Kolbe Day.
