The inmate’s welfare program is an initiative that provides for inmates to work within the prison in the various capacities.Inmates are paid between $5-$20 bi-weekly, with the matching amount being deposited into a savings account which is given to the inmate upon his release.
This work program is used as a tool in the rehabilitation process for those inmates who have little or no skills, exposing them on a rotation basis to the carpentry/agriculture/tailoring/jewelry/welding trade.
The income earned from the sales of items or services from the various projects are deposited directly into a bank account that is specific for the Welfare Program.From this account, inmate stipends, materials, tools and services are paid for; the accounting for this Program is kept and managed separately from the main Kolbe Accounts.Kolbe does not benefit financial from this program.
